Guest Post - Green and Blue

Hi everyone, due to the lack of posts here, I was more than happy to get an offer for a guest post by Arcadian Home blog. Just to keep everyone informed, I'm actually expecting a new member in the family, thus the rare updates on my blog! Have been resting for the past months. My actual due date is this Saturday! Hopefully the little one arrives on time or earlier. Pregnancy is tiring during the finals weeks.

Anyway, I'll let Mari take it from here. Hope you enjoy this guest post... xoxo

Hello, everyone! It's Mari here from Arcadian Home blog, a fantastic place to find lots of decorating inspiration, including winning ways with beautiful table decor, interesting wall art and lovely lighting fixtures. I'm so happy to be visiting with you at Weekend Escapades to share a guest post about spaces with wonderful green and blue color palettes. Amnah inspired me to choose this topic with her post about how much she loves blue, but is becoming interested in green. I've pulled together eight images that illustrate the versatility of the great color combo—blue and green. As you will see on our little virtual tour below, greens and blues are lovely together in all sorts of rooms, from the traditionally elegant to those with a contemporary minimalist look. Whether it's just a pop or two of these lively hues or a room saturated with vibrant blue and green, I hope you'll find inspiration for your own colorful interior or outdoor spaces. Please enjoy!

  Blue and Green
This formal dining room is kicked up a notch with a brilliant green wall and eye-catching shapely chairs with gorgeous backs dressed up in chartreuse and turquoise burnout velvet.

  Blue and Green
With a much softer background color on the wall, this living room also includes touches of deeper shades of blue and green. I love the blue sky peeking through in the canine painting.

  Blue and Green
This lofty bedroom is a restrained blend of blue and green—stylish and inviting. It's one of my personal favorites. The pale walls are painted in a perfect blue hue.

  Blue and Green
From pale blue walls in a bedroom retreat, we turn to soft green walls in a lovely dining room with watery aqua chairs. The embossed pattern on the chair backs adds texture and visual appeal to the design. Buffet lamps are pretty in a color that seems to be a beautiful blending of green and aqua.

  Blue and Green
Think green and blue rainbow. This living room and nearby office are dressed up in a lovely array of green and blue hues, from pale seafoam to a toned-down version of chartreuse. A contemporary striped rug ties
the room together.

  Blue and Green
This pretty pale corner vignette gets a bit of color with a blue unframed painting and green buffet lamps. I love the wide gold detailing against the muddy shade of green on the lamp bases.

  Blue and Green
Pale turquoise walls and apple green cabinets create a spa-like space in this large bath with marble floor and shower surround.

Blue and Green
Green and blue is a great color combo for an outdoor space. Here a vintage porch goes for cool contemporary style with stripes, patterns and solids. The hanging ferns are fabulous and so are the contemporary floor lamps created from a classic form.

More Industrial Inspiration: Guest Edition

After my previous post talking about industrial inspiration for my next room makeover project, I've been inspired to explore further on how this look can be achieved in any room of the house. Today, we are in for a treat as we have a guest post by Joanna from Design Shuffle to help us with more ideas on how to integrate industrial elements in our homes. Take it away, Joanna!

Hello, I’m Joanna, a blogger for Design Shuffle, a premier source for interior design information and designers portfolios. I am fortunate in that I spend my days finding the most beautiful images of interiors the web has to offer. I put them together and then share them with blog readers such as you.

Thanks to Weekend Escapades for letting me share with you today!

With the popularity of city loft living, industrial spaces have become more and more desirable. With expansive square footage, these “homes” can be intimidating when it comes time to decorate, but many designers have risen to the challenge beautifully as you’ll see in the spaces below. We’re sure you’ll come away with lots of interior design ideas.

If a dream loft isn’t in the cards for your near future, you can easily bring industrial elements into your home. Furnishings such as a wood and metal table on wheels or a distressed table with aluminum chairs will give your room an industrial feel.

Not quite sure of the origins of this space, but we love it. The worn leather seating and rustic cabinets and tables look perfect in the industrial style room.

Modern glass touches and furnishings make this warehouse space updated and fresh. Brick against a fresh coat of white paint really makes the wall and shape of the windows stand out.

  Industrial Inspiration
Here is where that industrial style table we were talking about above comes in. Take a traditional and feminine room and give it a sassy edge with industrial accents.

An old factory sets the stage for a glamorous bedroom design with lots of personality. Can’t you just imagine jumping into that comfy bed for a mid-day nap?

  Industrial Inspiration
Over 6,000 square space of industrial strength living space didn't keep the designer and owners from creating a warm and livable home.

Need dining room design ideas? Sleek modern furnishings and ornate chandelier play nicely with weathered brick and worn concrete floors.

  Industrial Inspiration
This is another way to add industrial touches to a room in your home. Old post office cubbies, aluminum chairs and vintage commercial lighting go a long way in creating a chic decor. Does this space inspire interior design ideas of your own?

Another luxurious bedroom is brought to life in rather harsh surroundings. Concrete walls and heavy steel beams add to the character of the space.
