Just a quick update to share this photo with you.

I love pastel colours, white bookshelves and a sitting area next to a window flooding in sunlight. Love the skirted table with the little frill as the trim.

It somehow reminds me of this show I'm currently addicted to - Revenge. I'm downloading this show like crazy as I love the set decor and the story. You've got to watch it if you haven't yet!

bookshelves beauty...

I've always loved the idea of having bookshelves in the bedroom so I'm planning to incorporate bookshelves in the room that I'm decorating.

I absolutely love this photo below. A plain white bed surrounded by leather books.

Even the windows have been kept simple with no curtains and just a simple iron rod so that it does not steal the limelight of those lovely books.

All those books reminds me of that scene of one of my favourite films of all time - Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

I digress.

Anyway...if you have a great collection of books, I would highly recommend you make them the focal point of your rooms. Keep your bedlinens simple so that the books become the main feature.

I like how they hung framed pictures on the bookshelves for some visual interest.

One thing that I've learnt is that you can stack the books on your shelves horizontally and vertically to add visual interest. Also, a few pretty knick knacks here and there would break a sea of books with some of your personal style.

The room I am decorating will not have enough space to dedicate a whole wall to bookshelves, so it would probably be just a few shelves on brackets. I do hope I can share the finished project with you all soon.

beautiful basket

Thought I'd just share with you this photo. I love baskets. If there was one thing I had to choose to collect, it would be pretty baskets like these. It looks great anywhere, and you can use it to keep just about anything - kid's toys, laundry, blueprints (like in this photo), umbrellas, onions (smaller baskets of course), spare bed linen... and the list goes on.

On a side note... my to-do list is growing. I have so many things to do, yet not enough time to get them done! I haven't even done my taxes yet, but here I am, making an update on my blog.

Hopefully I can get moving on doing the makeover of the room that I mentioned in the end of the post I wrote way back in Dec '11 - I have finally been given the green light by the owner to continue with it. So I have a picture of how I want to decorate it in my head. Can't wait to start on it and get it finished!


At the same time, I'm still working on revising the quotation and discussing about the renovation of our new house with our contractor. Yes, I am a fussy client - but I will not proceed with renovation until I am fully satisfied with every little detail of the project!
